Strange Darkness Radio

Superstitions: Signs, Beliefs & Taboos

Episode 82
What Do You Believe… And Why?
Is a black cat crossing your path just coincidence? Why do people throw salt over their shoulder? Should you really avoid walking under a ladder? And what is it about Friday the 13th that has made it one of the most feared dates in history?

On this episode of Strange Darkness Radio, hosts Bobby Washington, Mike Fernandez, and Kyler Jackson explore the fascinating world of superstitions—where folklore, psychology, religion, history, and the paranormal often collide.

Join us as we discuss:

👻 The surprising origins of some of the world’s oldest superstitions.

🪞 Why breaking a mirror supposedly brings seven years of bad luck.

🐈‍⬛ The truth behind black cats and why they’re considered lucky in some cultures and cursed in others.

🧂 Why spilling salt, opening umbrellas indoors, knocking on wood, and walking under ladders became so deeply rooted in society.

🍀 Lucky charms, horseshoes, four-leaf clovers, lucky numbers, and objects believed to bring protection.

📅 The mysterious history of Friday the 13th and why it still makes people uneasy today.

🧠 Are superstitions simply psychological conditioning… or have some of them survived because people experienced something they couldn’t explain?

Whether you’re a believer, a skeptic, or somewhere in between, this conversation might make you think twice before tempting fate.

Amy wasn’t able to join us for this episode, but don’t worry—she’ll be back on the next episode of Strange Darkness Radio!

Because the truth… is stranger than

Most people dismiss UFOs and UAPs (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena) as misidentifications, illusions, or government cover-ups. But what if the truth is far more complex—and far more profound—than we've been led to believe?

In this special bonus episode of Strange Darkness Radio, we journey into the heart of one of the most controversial topics of our time: UFO disclosure, government secrecy, extraterrestrial contact, and the growing belief that humanity may be on the verge of a major shift in understanding reality itself.

Joining us is special guest Silverayne, who shares a deeply personal and extraordinary experience involving a spiritual visitation and what she describes as a powerful informational download concerning events that may unfold over the next five years. Together, we examine recent Pentagon disclosures, classified government documents, unexplained aerial phenomena, and the possibility that there is far more occurring behind the scenes than the public realizes.

Silverayne discusses her firsthand visions, symbolic messages, and insights into consciousness, disclosure, and humanity's future. We explore the connection between spirituality and unexplained phenomena, the role of intuition in understanding the unknown, and why many believe the conversation surrounding extraterrestrial contact extends far beyond technology and into the realm of human consciousness itself.

Could humanity be experiencing a gradual awakening? Are governments revealing only part of the story? What role do spiritual experiences play in the larger disclosure narrative?

These are the questions we dare to ask.

Whether you're a UFO enthusiast, a truth seeker, a spiritual explorer, or simply curious about the mysteries surrounding disclosure, this episode offers a thought-provoking discussion that challenges conventional thinking and invites listeners to look beyond the official narrative.

Were We Wrong About the Ouija Board? | Episode 80

Some doors don’t just open…
they listen.

In this episode of Strange Darkness Radio, we step into one of the most misunderstood tools in the paranormal world—the Ouija board.

For decades, it’s been labeled dangerous… a portal… something to fear.
But what if everything you’ve been told… isn’t the full truth?

This episode explores Ouija board sessions, spirit box communication, and the truth behind paranormal tools.

Joined by special guest Emrys Abner—creator, author, and founder of The Acoustic Alchemist—we explore the deeper reality behind spirit communication, intention, and the true nature of the tools we use to reach beyond the veil.

From handcrafted boards to ceremonial magic, Emrys breaks down:

• The truth vs. myth behind Ouija boards
• Why intention matters more than the tool itself
• The difference between fear-based experiences and conscious communication
• The misunderstood nature of angels, demons, and spiritual entities
• How belief, mindset, and energy shape what you encounter

Along the way, the Strange Darkness team opens up about their own experiences, hesitations, and an upcoming live Ouija session at a disclosed location—where curiosity meets the unknown.

This isn’t about shock value.
This is about understanding.

Because sometimes… the scariest thing isn’t what’s out there—
it’s what we’ve been conditioned to believe.

Strange Darkness Radio – Episode 79

From the Funeral Home to the Circus… and Beyond

Step into the shadows with Bobby Washington, Carolyn Grey, and Mike Fernandez as they welcome a guest whose life reads like a passage between worlds—Eric Raymond Byron.

In this unforgettable roadshow episode, the conversation moves through spaces most people only whisper about. From the stillness of funeral homes—where the air feels heavy with what was—to the surreal, unpredictable energy of the circus, Eric shares a journey that defies anything close to ordinary.

But the story doesn’t stop there.

Eric opens up about deeply vivid memories of a past life—one rooted in the spirit of a Viking, with recollections so detailed they’ve followed him since childhood. He also reflects on a childhood encounter with the paranormal, a moment that quietly shaped his understanding of reality, death, and everything beyond it.

Throughout the episode, the conversation weaves between experience and interpretation—touching on ancient civilizations, unexplained phenomena, and the possibility that what we’ve been taught about death… may only be a fraction of the truth.

And in true Strange Darkness Radio fashion, not everything goes perfectly smooth. A few unexpected on-air mishaps bring a touch of humanity and humor to an otherwise intense and thought-provoking discussion—reminding us that even when exploring the unknown, we’re still grounded in the moment.

This is more than an interview.
It’s a journey into memory, mystery, and the edges of understanding.

Welcome to Episode 78 of Strange Darkness Radio — where curiosity pulls you in… and sometimes, something pulls back.

In this episode, Bobby Washington, Amy Tydeman, and Mike Fernandez explore the world of ritual games — the kind you’re only supposed to play once… if at all.

In the first half, we step into the eerie origins and rules behind some of the internet’s most infamous supernatural challenges. Mike breaks down the history, folklore, and supposed consequences of:
• Kokkuri-san — Japan’s Ouija-like spirit summoning ritual
• The Elevator Game — a step-by-step path to another dimension
• The Three Kings Game — a psychological endurance ritual that blurs reality
• The Midnight Game — a candlelit nightmare you may not escape

Where did these games come from? Why do people keep playing them? And what happens when the rules… aren’t followed exactly?

Then, in the second half, the atmosphere shifts.

The lights dim…
The tension builds…

Amy leads a chilling round of Choose Your Curse — where there are no winning choices… only consequences. The question isn’t if you suffer… it’s how.

⸻
